Rats are unwelcome visitors to your home, but do not fear Go-Pest are here and can remove these rodents fast and effectively!
Rats carry diseases and can lead to a number of health risks including hantavirus, leptospirosis and rat bite fever.
Rats can also be very destructive to your home, chewing through walls, insulation, and electrical wiring.
The most common rat in the UK is the Brown or Norwegian Rat. They are common in all areas where humans live, our general living conditions are ideal for rats to survive and prosper.
Obvious signs of a rat infestation are as follows:
- 3-5mm rod shaped droppings
- Holes in walls & floors
- Footprints followed by tail dragging marks
- Smears on walls left by dirty fur after contact
Rats have neophobia, which is a fear of anything new. As a result rats are very cautious of traps when initially placed in their environment. Therefore when carrying out any rat treatment you need to be patient. After about four or five days, that neophobia wears off and they accept the trap as part of their environment and are too tempted for the bait to resist it.
We deal with lots of rat infestations on a daily basis – so you are in safe hands.
The below steps will be taken by our engineer when solving your rat infestation:
A Professional Survey
A full home inspection will be undertaken by a Go-Pest engineer.
Rats are nimble, versatile and make the most of any opportunity to enter your home. Black rats are good climbers. Whilst brown rats can climb, they prefer to build burrows, particularly near or beneath solid structures like sheds, garages and walls. They are very adept at swimming in sewers and drain systems, making the most of any damaged pipework. Both species will gnaw at gaps to enlarge them enough for easy entry.
We will investigate the outside of the house, paying special attention to damaged drains, cracks in your garage door, gaps around vents, and spaces in the foundation looking for obvious access points. We will also inspect the inside of the house, looking at the vents, drains, appliance lines, and other potential access points. This thorough inspection ensures Go-Pest will find all entry routes.
Please also be aware that, if you live in a semi-detached or terraced property, there is a possibility rats may be entering your property from the adjacent home
Fast Effective Treatments
The quickest and most effective ways to control rats is using a combination of rodenticides and traps. Rat bait stations will be professionally laid and managed by Go-Pest. Rat bait stations are trusted rat deterrents and are safe to use even in locations where children or pets are present.
We will visit the site as many times as it takes until all rats are controlled.
Rat Proofing
Once rat bait stations have controlled the rat infestations, Go-Pest will then “proof” all entry points to prevent further rat infestations. Proofing is a term used to fill any holes or gaps which allow the rat’s entry to your home.
